Vista Group Stay Tuned Bumpers (1)

Bumper: On a color-changing background (a la Paramount Home Entertainment's "Acid Trip" warning screen and the MGM/UA Home Video "rainbow" logo), we see yellow text (in the Lemonade Bold font) that reads: "Please stay tuned following this video presentation for previews of other Sesame Street home videos and audio products".

Variants:

  • Starting with Elmo's World: Wild Wild West!, the bumper plays at a faster rate.

FX/SFX: The color-changing background.

Music/Sounds:

  • September 2, 1997-February 3, 1998: The jazzy theme to William Wegman's Mother Goose.
  • January 12, 1999-February 29, 2000: The ending of the 1969-1992 Sesame Street closing theme.
  • July 20, 1999-March 14, 2006: None.

Availability: Seen on the following video releases:

  • Variant 1 (September 2, 1997-February 3, 1998): Elmo Saves Christmas (1997 print), William Wegman's Mother Goose, Fiesta!, and Big Bird Gets Lost
  • Variant 2 (January 12, 1999-February 29, 2000): Let's Eat!: Funny Food Songs, Kids' Favorite Songs (as well as its 2001 DVD), Count It Higher (Sony Wonder issue), The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland Sing & Play, Sesame Street Family Feature Starring Elmo!, Sesame Street Family Feature Starring Big Bird and Ernie!, Elmo's World: Dancing, Books and Music! (as well as it's 2001 DVD) and CinderElmo
  • Variant 3 (July 20, 1999-March 14, 2006): Elmo's World: Wild Wild West!, Kids Favorite Songs 2, Computer Caper, Elmo's World: Springtime Fun, Elmo's World: Wake Up with Elmo, Bert and Ernie's Word Play, Elmo Visits the Firehouse, Elmo's World: Happy Holidays, Elmo's World: Head to Toe with Elmo, Zoe's Dance Moves, Elmo's World: The Great Outdoors, Sesame Sings Karaoke, Three Bears & a New Baby, Elmo's World: Elmo Has 2, What's the Name of That Song, A Magical Halloween Adventure, Elmo's World: The Street We Live On, A Celebration Of Me Grover, Happy Healthy Monsters, Elmo Visits the Doctor, Friends to the Rescue, Elmo's World: Food, Water and Exercise, All-Star Alphabet, and Elmo's World: Reach for the Sky, Pokémon: Psychic Surprise (as well as it's 2004 DVD), VeggieTales: Minnesota Cuke and the Search for Samson's Hairbrush, Lord of the Beans and Sheerluck Holmes and the Golden Ruler.

Editor's Note: A pretty standard, if somewhat boring, bumper, though the music in the earlier variants does help it stand out a bit.

April 14-July 7, 1998[]

Vista Group Stay Tuned Bumpers (2)

Bumper: On a changing-color spinning background, we see the same text as before in capitals.

FX/SFX: The colorful background spinning and the letters.

Music/Sounds: An excerpt of the instrumental version of "Elmocize."

Availability: Seen on Elmopalooza! (Version 2), The Alphabet Jungle Game, The Great Numbers Game, and The Best of Kermit on Sesame Street, as well as the 1998 print of Elmo Saves Christmas.

Editor's Note: Easily the most interesting bumper on the page, thanks to the choice of music and dynamic background.

March 30, 1999-May 15, 2001[]

Vista Group Stay Tuned Bumpers (3)

Bumper: On a light blue background, we see the text in a blue Helvetica font: "Please stay tuned after this program for other exciting shows from Sony Wonder".

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: It made its first appearance on Mama Do You Love Me?. It later appeared on Sesame Street videos from 1999-2001, such as Elmo's World: Babies, Dogs and Life on the Farm, Elmo's World: Singing, Drawing and Telephones, Let's Make Music, Elmo's World: Flowers, Plants and Trees, Bananas and Hair, Elmo's Musical Adventure: The Story of Peter and the Wolf, Elmo's Magic Cookbook, Elmo's World: Birthdays, Games and Pets, and the 1999 print of Elmo Saves Christmas.

Editor's Note: It feels all too much like a placeholder compared to the other bumpers on its page, and it couldn't have even taken a minute to develop. All in all, it's very boring, to the point that the use of "exciting" becomes nothing short of hypocrisy.

June 8, 1999[]

Bumper: On a yellow background, Larry the Cucumber is seen staring at the viewer and smiling upside-down. Next to him is the blue text "Please stay tuned for more trailers after the show." in the Hotsy Totsy font.

FX/SFX: A photo still created on a computer with fading effects.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Just like the previous bumper, this is also extremely rare.

  • This was only used on the 1999 Lyrick Studios VHS re-releases of the VeggieTales videos Very Silly Songs! and Josh and the Big Wall!. The 2001-2002 reprints of these two latter releases used the next bumper.
  • Certain other VeggieTales videos distributed by Lyrick Studios use their own bumper (described below) instead, or none at all.

Editor's Note: Due to this bumper not being scaled properly before being put out, there is a black border which surrounds it. Some also view it unfavorably due to Larry's stare.

March 24, 2001-March 8, 2005 (VHS); October 26, 2002-May 18, 2004 (DVD)[]

Bumper: On a plain white background, we see the red text "Stay tuned for more after the show." in an Impact font.

Variants:

  • On the 2001 and 2003 Big Idea VHS releases of VeggieTales: "Lyle the Kindly Viking", as well as the 2003 VHS re-releases of VeggieTales: "Rack, Shack & Benny", VeggieTales: "Josh and the Big Wall!" and The Ultimate Silly Song Countdown, a similar bumper is seen in a different font on a lavender background with white text saying "STAY TUNED AFTER THE SHOW FOR MORE EXCITING NEWS!". Steve McKenzie says "Stay tuned after the show for some more exciting news from Big Idea!". If you look real closely, you can see lines and symbols, such as boomerangs on the background.
    • A sub-variant exclusively seen on the 2001 VHS release of 3-2-1 Penguins: "The Amazing Carnival of Complaining" is on a blurry ocean background taken from the Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie trailer. Here the text reads "STAY TUNED AFTER THE SHOW" with Steve McKenzie saying "Stay tuned after the video for a behind-the-scenes look at Big Idea's new movie, Jonah".
  • Two sub-variants of the original version exist:
    • On VeggieTales: Jonah Sing-Along Songs and More! (exclusively a VHS release from 2002), the text is smaller and appears above footage from "Behind the Scenes of Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie," which fades in and out.
    • Rarely, the text will appear in the same font as the lavender variant. Examples of this include the 2002 VHS releases of The Star of Christmas and LarryBoy: The Cartoon Adventures: "The Yodelnapper".
  • A variant exists where the background is a blurred-up Las Vegas pattern facing to the left at an angle. The white neon lights on the background are seen moving from the upper-left corner to the bottom-right corner of the screen. In front of the Las Vegas pattern, we see white text telling us to stay tuned for specific features after the show (as described below). This variant was first seen on the 2003 VHS release of LarryBoy: The Cartoon Adventures: "The Good, the Bad and the Eggly!" and last seen on the 2005 VHS release of VeggieTales: "Duke and the Great Pie War".
    • "Stay Tuned for more after our Feature Presentation!" (Steve McKenzie simply says "Stay tuned for more after our feature!")
    • "Stay tuned for a special animated short right after our Feature Presentation!" (Here Steve McKenzie is replaced with Larry the Cucumber [voiced by Mike Nawrocki] and the music is quieter. This sub-variant only appears on the 2003 VHS release of The Wonderful World of Auto-Tainment!.)
    • "Stay Tuned after our Main Presentation for a Special Bonus Feature" (Here the text is bolder, has a shadow effect, and is missing punctuation. The music is also slightly extended. This was seen on the 2004 VHS and DVD releases of VeggieTales: "A Snoodle's Tale", and certain VeggieTales Classics VHS re-releases from the same year including God Wants Me to Forgive Them!?!, VeggieTales: Larry-Boy! & the Fib from Outer Space!, and Larry-Boy and the Rumor Weed.)
    • "Stay Tuned for an exciting Behind the scenes special after our Feature Presentation!" (Here the text is smaller like the second variant but is noticeably more on-center. The music is also quieter as well. This was only seen on the 2003 VHS re-releases of VeggieTales: "Madame Blueberry" and VeggieTales: "King George and the Ducky".)
    • "Stay Tuned for 'The Star of Christmas'" (Here the text is yellow instead of white, and this sub-variant has no music at all. Here, Steve McKenzie who says "Stay tuned after "The Toy That Saved Christmas" for the second half of our Holiday Double Feature, The Star of Christmas, plus more fun previews." This was only seen on the 2004 VHS release of VeggieTales: Holiday Double Feature.)
  • On the 2003 VHS release of Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie, a blue ocean background is used. A yellow television is seen showing footage of some bloopers from the film at the bottom right corner of the screen. Bordering the television is the white text "Stay Tuned for Outtakes After the Feature". As we hear the audio of the bloopers and see them playing, Steve McKenzie says "Stay tuned for never-before seen outtakes and more after our feature".

FX/SFX: A photo still created on a computer with fading effects. Some variants implement live-action footage, while the Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie variant includes CGI animation archived from the film’s blooper reel.

Music/Sounds: Big Idea Productions announcer Steve McKenzie says the text displayed on screen.

Music/Sounds Variants:

  • On Viz Video and Sony Music/Sony Wonder VHS and DVD releases, there is no announcer on the screen.
  • The Las Vegas variant uses the first fourteen notes of "Erie Canal" from VeggieTales: The Wonderful World of Auto-Tainment, with McKenzie saying the text.

Availability: Common for the original version and the Las Vegas variant, but for the other variants, rare.

  • This bumper debuted on the original 2001 VHS release of VeggieTales: Lyle the Kindly Viking.
  • The main version can be found on most VeggieTales, 3-2-1 Penguins! and LarryBoy: The Cartoon Adventures VHS tapes from 2002-03.
  • The Las Vegas variant replaced the original version starting in 2003, making it fairly common and also easy to find on most Big Idea VHS releases as listed here.
  • As for the other variants, they are mostly exclusive to certain releases as described above.
  • On DVD, it makes surprise appearances on The Toy That Saved Christmas, The Star of Christmas, and A Snoodle's Tale.
  • The last VHS to use this bumper, and the last release to use it overall is the 2005 VHS of VeggieTales: "Duke and the Great Pie War".
  • This strangely doesn't appear on the last three VeggieTales VHS releases by Sony Wonder from 2005-06, which are Minnesota Cuke and the Search for Samson's Hairbrush, Lord of the Beans, and Sheerluck Holmes and the Golden Ruler, despite those releases having special features after the program.

Editor's Note: The font, capitalization, and punctuation on some of the variants could be seen as inconsistent with others. Despite this, this bumper is well-liked by many VeggieTales fans.
